You would like to bring your four-legged friend to the island for a day trip or vacation? So that you and your four-legged friend can get to know and explore Helgoland, we have some tips for a pleasant coexistence.
The main island of Helgoland is only small 1 sq km and has few exercise areas for dogs. Therefore, the four-legged friend must be leashed at all times. If you want to romp with him without a leash, you have the opportunity to do so on the north beach of the island, in the area of the “Kringel”, in the midland and in the south harbor behind the helipad. Dogs of all sizes and breeds are prohibited on the dune, the dune is a nature reserve and is home to seals and grey seals with which incidents with dogs can occur.
And please remember to always carry dog bags. There are boxes everywhere on the island for pulling bags. Especially on the green spaces, dog poop is a nuisance, especially to children and our gardening staff.
Please keep in mind: there is no veterinarian on Helgoland. In case of emergency, you would have to leave the island with your four-legged friend.
